Dear CO Choir Directors,
Thank you for your contribution to our Director’s Survey. The results were very mixed across the state, with many wanting to pursue virtual options and many Directors describing the virtual fatigue and stress students are experiencing. More than anything, we hope you feel like you had the opportunity to provide input. The ASC Board read your every word, we hear you and resonate with the struggles you are experiencing this year.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the cancellation of the 2021 All State Choir Festival. After many meetings throughout the summer months, taking a hard look at ASC’s financial viability during a pandemic year, and reading through your survey comments, we do not believe that a virtual choir will be a viable option this spring. This decision making process has been truly difficult for our ASC Board, and we grieve this loss deeply.
We would still like to offer the audition process for your students who are seeking accolades for their college resume and/or scholarship application and for the students who have already worked so hard to prepare their audition material. More information on that coming soon.
We know how much has been cancelled this year, and the All State Choir Board knows how difficult this news will be on you and your students. We encourage you to seek Honor Choir and collaborative virtual opportunities in your own district, where it may be easier to finagle your district’s current policies on gathering. If you have any questions about creating your own festival, please feel free to reach out and I can hook you up with some great resources.
